Much as I don’t really believe in defined areas of anything, really (please read on for more detail), you will find this website divided into ‘areas’ of visual arts - a necessary ill for the sake of clarity.
I believe in interdisciplinarity on all levels: today we try to separate and oppose things as much as possible, but I find complimentarity far more interesting and enriching. Science, technology, art and economics, can and must feed off each other to realise their individual full potentials. In the same way, I see all fields of artistic practise intrinsically intertwined and interchangeable on varying levels, whether it be conceptual art, live art, graphics, film, animation, circus, or any of the others. But they are also and especially endlessly questionable, wherein their beauty lies in my eyes; I find the superiority of questions over answers undeniable – they show, they open doors. Allan Kaprow said about artists, “these bold creators [will] show us […] the world we have always had around us but ignored” and I would like to think that can be true, even just thanks to the sheer freedom that surrounds the word ‘art’ - its simplicity and versatility make it an invaluable tool for joining all ends together.
And thank you to the (Norwich University of the Arts) Visual Studies course & all who were on it, as the whole experience showed me the tip of the iceberg of what was actually hidden behind the word art. And that in itself is priceless.
Now, a whole life ahead to share that tip and dive to discover the beginning of the rest.
